Job summary

Nova Scotia Power in Stellarton, Nova Scotia is seeking a Regional Planner to join Distribution Planning. You will report to the Planning Supervisor and handle field investigation, scoping, estimating, interfaces and documentation for customer service work, capital work, and line extensions.

You will plan and coordinate operating, maintenance and construction activities, collaborate with customers and contractors, perform feeder inspections, develop cost estimates, and support field crews.

Qualifications

• A Grade XII education or equivalent is required.
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal Powerline Technician Certificate with 1 year experience or Electrical Engineering Technologist with 2–3 years of transmission and distribution design experience.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with field planning software would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Make effective decisions on field investigation, scoping, estimating, interfaces and documentation for customer service work and/or capital work and/or line extensions.
• Plan and coordinate operating, maintenance and construction activities in a timely, cost-effective, quality-based manner using computerized software.
• Coordinate job planning with customers, other locations/departments, outside agencies and contractors to optimize manpower, vehicles and equipment while minimizing customer interruptions.
• Conduct distribution feeder inspections, inspect lines, scope capital project requests, and provide detailed cost estimates for internal and external customers.
