WSP in Canada is seeking a Regional Lead – Hydropower and Dams to drive growth across Western Canada. You will shape strategy, strengthen client partnerships, and oversee major hydropower and dam projects as Project Director or Program Manager.

The role requires 15+ years in hydropower/dam engineering, a professional engineering designation, and proven success in business development and leadership. Occasional travel within the region is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 15+ years of hydropower/dam engineering experience.
  • Registered or eligible for P.Eng.
  • Strong leadership and business development track record.
  • Established network with utilities and dam owners in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Lead regional growth by guiding strategic BD across Western Canada.
  • Strengthen client relationships with utilities and dam owners.
  • Coordinate winning pursuit strategies and client presentations.
  • Direct major hydropower/dam projects as Project Director or PM.

Lead the growth of one of Canada’s most critical infrastructure sectors. As Regional Lead – Hydropower and Dams (North-Western Canada), you will play a pivotal role in shaping strategy, strengthening client partnerships, and delivering impactful projects that support resilient, sustainable energy systems across North-Western Canada.

This is a high-impact leadership role where your expertise fuels business growth, guides complex project delivery, and contributes to a national vision for the future of hydropower and dam infrastructure.

This position will be based out of one of our west or north Canadian offices, ideally, Greater Vancouver, Greater Calgary, Greater Edmonton areas.

Your Impact
  • Drive regional growth by leading strategic business development initiatives across Western Canada
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key clients, utilities, and dam owners to position WSP as a trusted partner
  • Lead and coordinate winning pursuit strategies, proposals, and client presentations across multidisciplinary teams
  • Direct and oversee major hydropower and dams projects, acting as Project Director or Program Manager
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance aligned with your area of engineering expertise
  • Collaborate with national sector leaders to implement and execute strategic growth plans
  • Identify resource needs, support recruitment efforts, and help build a high-performing regional team
  • Foster a strong team culture by promoting engagement, collaboration, and professional development
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • At least 15 years of strong technical expertise in hydropower or dams (hydrotechnical, civil, structural, geotechnical, dam safety, mechanical, electrical, or related discipline)
  • Demonstrated success in business development and strategic growth within the Canadian hydropower and dams sector
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a P.Eng.
  • Established network and relationships with power utilities and dam owners in north or western Canada
  • Proven ability to lead client engagement and develop long-term partnerships
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to travel within North and Western Canada (10–20%)

Compensation
  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $147,500 – $195,400
  • MB & ON: $134,600 – $184,600
  • NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $133,200 – $176,900
