Job summary

WSP is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead hydropower and dam initiatives across Western Canada. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and drive schedules and budgets through all project phases. This role requires senior-level experience and a strong network in the hydro sector.

The position offers opportunities to travel to project sites, engage with stakeholders, and advance within a dynamic energy practice. A P.Eng or MBA/PMP assets are valued.

As a Project Manager supporting Hydropower and Dams projects, you will play a key role in delivering complex projects in hydroelectric infrastructure across Ontario and Atlantic. Your work will support the reliability, modernization, and resiliency of critical power infrastructure that millions of people depend on. You will work closely with the hydropower and dams design teams and our market managers to lead and manage projects and business opportunities with our various clients. This position will be located out of one of our Western Canadian offices in British Columbia, Alberta or Saskatchewan.

You’ll collaborate with diverse technical teams, utilities partners, contractors, and stakeholders — contributing to the planning and execution of meaningful, high‑impact infrastructure investments that strengthen communities and shape the province’s energy future.

• Manage multidisciplinary hydropower and dam projects;
• Develop, maintain, and strengthen long‑term client relationships;
• Demonstrate consistent leadership;
• Participate in conferences and training activities to promote WSP and develop new skills;
• Occasionally travel for project meetings, site visits, training sessions, and other related activities;
• Support WSP’s project management processes throughout all phases: opportunity, initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout;
• Monitor project costs and schedule using appropriate tools and techniques, including Earned Value Management (EVM).

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or any other relevant field;
• Senior‑level experience (10+ years) in the hydropower and dams sector, supported by a strong professional network;
• Strong experience in the management of multidisciplinary projects;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
• Strong planning, organizational, prioritization, and teamwork skills;
• Initiative, proactivity, resourcefulness, autonomy, and attention to detail;
• A proactive approach to problem‑solving and strong decision‑making abilities;
• Knowledge of scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera P6 (an asset);
• P.ENG designation or eligibility to obtain registration desired;

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $104,100 to $138,000

MB & ON: $95,000 to $130,800

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $94,100 to $124,900
