Job summary

BDDEC in the Northwest Territories seeks a Regional Inclusive Schooling Coordinator to lead inclusive education across schools. You will champion competency-based learning, indigenization, and land-based education while partnering with educators, families and community organizations to strengthen programming.

The role requires building IEPs, mentoring school teams, coordinating services with Indigenous governments and health agencies, and guiding professional development.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for a NWT Professional Teaching Certificate or equivalent.
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or higher; Master’s preferred may be asset.
• 5+ years of teaching experience, including inclusive schooling or student support.
• Experience with diverse needs including autism, disabilities, and behavioural needs.
• Expertise in competency-based IEP development and evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of inclusive pedagogy, UDL and trauma-informed practice.
• Leadership in program development, staff training and cross-cultural work.

Responsibilities

• Implement inclusive programming across schools with administrators and staff.
• Coach and mentor teams to strengthen inclusive practices for diverse students.
• Model evidence-based strategies in communication, self-regulation and SEL.
• Liaise with Indigenous governments and health/child-care agencies to coordinate services.
• Deliver professional development, workshops and in-service training.
• Develop, implement and evaluate policies and guidelines for inclusive education.
• Monitor budgets, funding allocations and reporting for inclusive programs.
• Collect data, prepare reports and briefings for leadership and education authorities.
• Promote culturally-responsive, trauma-informed, family-centered practices.
• Travel across the region to provide on-site support and implementation.
