Job Description

The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for leading a Regional or District Safety team to a Best in Class Standard, effectively managing safe work in accordance with local regulations and Chandos Safe work procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Communicating and interacting with provincial and federal agencies requiring deliverable reporting, including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Emergency Services.
  2. Developing and executing effective relevant procedures to enhance the safety program.
  3. Implementing change based on leading indicators and statistical metrics.
  4. Developing a sound company safety culture working with all levels and departments of Chandos.
  5. Assessing risk and solving problems of varying construction tasks using expertise.
  6. Participating in project start-up meetings and understanding project scope.
  7. Providing guidance and oversight on incident investigations and potentially severe near misses.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in commercial and industrial construction.
  • National Construction Safety Officer Designation or HSE degree or Safety Diploma.
  • 2+ years in a Safety Management role.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of 3rd Party pre-qualifications, including IsNet, Avetta, Contractor Check.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Ontario region.
