We give you a world of potential

Computershare has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Controllership team in Toronto, reporting into and working closely with the US Controller team.

This role is ideal for an ambitious accounting professional looking to move beyond traditional financial reporting and gain exposure to regulatory reporting, capital and liquidity management, legal entity oversight, and business transformation initiatives.

You will join a team that values curiosity, integrity, and continuous learning. We encourage thoughtful questions and welcome new perspectives. We are looking for someone who wants to understand how the business operates, brings strong critical thinking and technical accounting skills, and has a passion for researching and resolving complex accounting matters and regulatory requirements.

Just as important as the work itself is the team you'll join. We have a collaborative and supportive environment where people genuinely enjoy working together, share knowledge openly, and invest in each other's growth and development. We believe the best results come from strong relationships built on trust, respect, accountability, and a willingness to help others succeed. The ideal candidate will embrace the Company's Purple culture, actively contribute to the team, build partnerships beyond the accounting function, and help strengthen the positive culture that makes our team successful.

From day one, you'll play an important role in maintaining the integrity of our financial and regulatory reporting. As you develop your knowledge of the business and demonstrate sound judgment, accuracy, and initiative, opportunities will expand to include support for strategic business initiatives, corporate transactions, finance transformation projects, and regulatory change implementation.
A role you will love

As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring financial information is accurate, well-supported, and delivered within established timelines while contributing to the continuous enhancement of our control environment. You will develop an end-to-end understanding of assigned legal entities, their products, accounting processes, data flows, and regulatory obligations.

This role combines traditional accounting responsibilities with analytical problem-solving, technical accounting research, data analysis, regulatory reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing monthly journal entries and supporting workpapers
  • Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating reconciling items
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of regulatory filings and related reporting requirements
  • Assisting with capital and liquidity monitoring, forecasting, and assessment activities
  • Supporting legal entity budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Researching, interpreting, documenting, and implementing accounting and regulatory guidance under IFRS and US GAAP
  • Analyzing large and complex financial and operational data sets to execute reporting and identify business insights
  • Developing an understanding of end-to-end business and reporting processes to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and enhanced controls
  • Maintaining robust documentation of accounting positions, processes, controls, and procedures
  • Supporting internal and external audits through preparation of analyses and supporting evidence
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across Finance and the broader business to address reporting and accounting matters
  • Participating in finance transformation initiatives, business projects, and special assignments as opportunities arise

What will you bring to the role?

Success in this role requires more than technical accounting knowledge and data analysis. The ideal candidate is curious, dependable, eager to learn, and motivated by continuous improvement. They enjoy solving complex problems, taking ownership of their work, and approaching challenges with integrity, accountability, and a commitment to doing the right thing. They strive for excellence while valuing the perspectives and contributions of others, embrace collaboration, and help foster the supportive, inclusive team culture that makes our team successful.
