Job Summary

As a Regional Environmental Specialist for our Health & Safety team at the Senneville location, you will be responsible for managing environmental programs in compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations for our regional sites: Senneville, Ville St-Laurent, Laval, and Sherbrooke.

In This Role, Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Establish, manage, and update specific environmental programs to ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal administrations and organizations;
  • Help sites conduct environmental audits as well as establish and implement an action plan to address the gaps identified during the audits (internal and external);
  • Inspect the facilities to ensure they comply with local regulations, where applicable. Advise management on environmental issues and recommend solutions to address gaps;
  • Manage the disposal function for hazardous and medical waste, including permits, reporting, releases, record keeping, and establishing disposal profiles related to this waste;
  • Explain the procedures and produce written documents as evidence of compliance for clients and municipal, provincial, and federal investigators. Coordinate communications with regulatory bodies and clients on environmental issues;
  • Promote sustainable development on the sites by keeping updated and communicating monthly the data and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the environment and sustainable development.

Key Elements

We are looking for the following minimum qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental sciences or sustainable environmental engineering;
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in environmental and sustainable development work;
  • Experience in a laboratory or a scientific organization is an asset;
  • Bilingual (French & English).
  • Ability to inspire trust and confidence through strong interpersonal skills and effective collaboration;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Commitment to excellence and attention to detail, ability to work within a complex and fast-moving environment.

Role Specific Information

  • Location: 22022 route Transcanadienne, Senneville, QC, H9X 1C1;
  • Transportation: We offer a free shuttle service from the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue train station and John Abbott College to the Senneville site. Free parking. Electric vehicle charging station;
  • Annual bonus based on performance;
  • Schedule: Day schedule from Monday to Friday;
  • Permanent position as of the hiring, full-time 37.5hrs per week.

About Safety AssessmentCharles River is committed to helping our partners expedite their preclinical drug development with exceptional safety assessment services, state-of-the-art facilities and expert regulatory guidance.
