DSL Inc in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is seeking a Service Technician to maintain an extremely high level of customer service while servicing food service equipment. You will use up-to-date technology and travel across Western Canada with company vehicles provided for business use.

Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, good communication, and a willingness to learn. Refrigeration journeyman certification is preferred; apprentices are encouraged to apply. Benefits and training are provided.

Qualifications

Position Summary

As a Service Technician at DSL, you will be responsible for maintaining an extremely high level of customer service and professionalism while maintaining food service equipment, ensuring the customer’s equipment is up and running. DSL supplies every technician with the most up-to-date technology in the industry, including smartphones and operating on cutting-edge cloud-based software. What you’ll do:

• Completing Preventative Maintenance on a variety of specialty food service equipment, including frozen carbonated beverage (FCB) units, soft serve machines, super automatic espresso machines, fryers, combi ovens, and clamshell grills
• Interacting with our customers and ensuring that their concerns are appropriately addressed in a professional and courteous manner
• Effectively handling requests and work orders on DSL’s Android app
• Maintaining an orderly and accurate parts inventory in your personal DSL vehicle

What you’ll need:

• Experience in a technical role with a high level of customer interaction is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
• Refrigeration Journeyman certification is preferred; registered Refrigeration apprentices are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates with Refrigeration, HVAC, or Appliance Repair experience are encouraged to apply.
• 1st- and 2nd-year Refrigeration apprentices, as well as candidates with equivalent hands‑on experience, will be considered.
• Experience working in appliance repair, mechanical or electrical fields is beneficial, especially if related to Taylor, Franke Coffee or Henny Penny equipment or equivalent product lines (i.e. Rational, Blodget, Garland, Bunn, Cornelius, FBD, Electro freeze, or Stoelting)
• Must possess excellent customer service skills, with the ability to ask probing questions and understand and resolve customer concerns
• Must be smartphone and tablet literate, with the ability to learn and navigate new software quickly
• Meticulous and detail-oriented
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal. Any second language an asset
• Must have basic tools

Travel Requirements:

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Local travel is required daily, with occasional travel throughout various nearby communities and towns. Company vehicles and gas card are supplied by DSL
• Extended travel may be required. Normally 2-3 days in length, these trips will include a travel allowance for food and lodging.
