Tidewater has an immediate opening for a Refined Product Marketer. This is a full-time position reporting into our Calgary Head Office. This is a fast paced, deadline driven role that requires superb organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a commercially driven Refined Products Marketer to lead wholesale diesel and gasoline marketing and trading activities across North America, with a primary focus on Western Canada. This role is responsible for developing and executing market strategy, expanding our customer base, optimizing pricing and margins, and strengthening long-term customer relationships. The successful candidate will combine market intelligence, commercial acumen, and relationship management expertise to grow volumes while maximizing netbacks and ensuring reliable supply execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plans to increase diesel and gasoline sales, with a focus on targeting businesses and industries in Western Canada, with a focus in British Columbia.
  • Identify and engage potential clients, build strong relationships, and establish a robust customer base for refined products.
  • Structure and negotiate commercial agreements, pricing programs, and incentive strategies to drive margin optimization and revenue growth.
  • Conduct detailed market analysis to identify trends, competitive dynamics, supply-demand fundamentals, and growth opportunities.
  • Monitor competitor activity, refinery throughput trends, import/export flows, and rack pricing to inform commercial strategy and positioning.
  • Partner cross-functionally with supply, operations, logistics, and finance teams to ensure reliable product delivery and alignment between sales commitments and operational capabilities.
  • Develop tailored value propositions for key customer segments, positioning refined products competitively based on reliability, pricing, sustainability attributes, and service.
  • Develop and execute trading and marketing strategies for secondary products, including fuel oil, biofuels, and refinery feedstocks, optimizing refining margins.
Ideal Candidate
Qualifications/Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-10 years proven experience in refined product marketing.
  • Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships.

  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex market data, pricing structures, and supply-demand fundamentals to support strategic decision making.

  • Self-motivated and highly accountable, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of refined products market, fuel specifications, logistics, and applicable regulatory framework is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel capabilities; experience with CRM systems, pricing platforms, or trading/market intelligence tools is advantageous.
