The Opportunity

Tidewater has an immediate opening for a Project Manager reporting to the Superintendent, Engineering. This is a full-time position based in Prince George, BC. The PG Refinery Project Manager leads all aspects of project development and execution, managing project workflow from initial scoping through to commissioning, handover, and close‑out. This role is expected to use a hands‑on site‑based approach coupled with active engagement and collaboration to integrate the needs of management, operations, maintenance, and project teams. The Project Manager follows a gated Project Development and Execution (PDE) process to ensure safe, reliable, cost effective and high‑quality project delivery to the refinery. This position also provides accurate and timely project reporting to management to ensure overall business success and control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop overall project execution strategies and manage projects to ensure they are implemented following PDE processes, including meeting expectations for safety, scope, quality, cost, schedule, risk, resourcing, and communications.
  • Maintain appropriate engagement of project stakeholders during all project phases.
  • Sustain an active site presence coordinating with project teams, managing and monitoring project construction, completing field reviews, and supporting project health, safety, and environmental performance expectations.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting and communication of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering professional practice management plan requirements.
  • Identify project opportunities and contribute to long‑range capital and maintenance planning processes.
  • Work with the Engineering team to develop site‑specific project systems, standards, and procedures for project control and execution.
  • Provide mentoring for site personnel regarding project execution.
Ideal Candidate
  • Engineering degree from an accredited university in an industrial related discipline (e.g., mechanical, chemical, electrical).
  • Minimum of 5 years of brownfield project management experience including site‑based stakeholder engagement, construction, and commissioning as well as facility and equipment design.
  • Eligible for immediate registration with EGBC or APEGA as a Professional Engineer.
  • Mechanical Engineering area of practice is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred.
  • Understanding of procurement, contracts, and contracting methodology.
  • Practical experience with project and engineering systems and documentation.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge with applicable industry codes and standards (API, ASME, ASTM, CSA).
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and permitting requirements in BC is preferred.
  • AutoCAD, Maximo, Solidworks, Autopipe, Compress, Ceasar software experience is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Facilitation, collaboration, and people skills.
  • Time management, multitasking and workload prioritization skills.
  • Organization, logistical management, and analytical skills.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Project.
