Job summary

Imperial is seeking a results-driven midstream business development professional to develop and implement logistics solutions to improve refining and midstream operations. The ideal candidate has refinery or midstream experience and understands the economics of value chain activities.

The role requires independent execution of complex agreements, leadership in negotiations, and coordination with internal stakeholders to drive growth while managing risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience applying logistics or refining knowledge; business development experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify solutions, negotiate, execute, and manage agreements to support refinery and midstream operations.
  • Lead development of logistics opportunities with end-to-end perspective.
  • Conduct economic evaluation, internal alignment and secure approvals for opportunities.
  • Provide oversight to JV Operations or represent the company with logistic providers.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to support business strategy and growth.
  • Provide practical commercial mentorship across the organization.
  • Assess new regulations and help the business comply with them.
  • Support or lead implementation of new initiatives/projects.
  • Input to development of business strategies and plans.

What role you will play in our team

We are seeking a results-driven midstream business development professional to develop and implement logistics solutions to improve refining and midstream operations. Specifically, the ideal candidate has previous experience in refinery or midstream operations, and economics of value chain activities (e.g. refineries, pipelines, terminals, rail, marine).

The candidate should be equally able to independently execute complex agreements and lead negotiations to deliver value and manage risk. This position coordinates internal stakeholders, drives external engagement strategies, and plays a key role in implementing business and growth initiatives.

What you will do
  • Identify solutions, negotiate, execute, and manage competitive agreements with counterparties to support and optimize refinery and midstream operations from an end to end perspective.
  • Lead development of logistics opportunities that provide competitive and effective logistics from an end to end perspective.
  • Conduct economic evaluation, negotiation, internal stakeholder alignment, and secure approvals for new opportunities consistent with company policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Provide oversight to JV Operations and/or be a company representative with logistic providers
  • Participate on cross functional teams supporting business strategy development and execution with mandated business development outcomes
  • Provide effective and practical commercial mentorship across organization.
  • Determine the applicability and impact of new regulations and support business unit efforts to comply with regulations.
  • Support or lead the implementation of new initiatives/projects
  • Provide guidance and input to the development of business strategies and plans.
About you

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field .
  • 5+ years of proven experience applying logistics or refining knowledge. Previous business development experience is preferred.

Skills:

  • Direct experience/knowledge of manufacturing operations and economics of business line activities (e.g., production, refineries, pipelines, terminals, rail, marine).
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial principles.
  • Strong teamwork, coordination and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Strong attention to details.
  • Ability to deal with a broad scope of technical issues.
  • Ability to proactively analyze complex issues or opportunities, develop strategies for handling those opportunities and effectively present observations, conclusions and recommendations to broad audience (e.g., business lines, external agencies, senior management, and peers).
  • Teamwork, proactive approach, autonomy, mentoring skills, and the ability to deal with a large number of time critical activities simultaneously are essential.
