Central City Brewers and Distillers is a craft brewery in the business of developing and selling international award-winning premium craft beer and high-quality distilled spirits brewed without compromise. Based in Surrey, British Columbia, CCBD was voted Canada Best Brewery of the Year in 2010 and 2012. Its Red Racer brand has become a cult icon among craft beer enthusiasts throughout North America. Founded in 2003 as a brewpub and liquor store in downtown Surrey, CCBD celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2013 with the grand opening of a brand new, 68,000 sq. ft. brewery and distillery on Bridgeview Drive. In 2019 we opened a 40,000 sq. ft. storage facility with approximately 2000 barrels of whiskey ageing in this facility. We are proud of being a local-Canadian Brewery that is currently expanding. Job Summary
The
Certified Red Seal Millwright will be in charge of machinery and equipment installation, layout, preventative, and continuing maintenance.
Red Seal Millwright work as part of the Maintenance Team to verify that all machinery is working properly, and that the facility is following all requirements. This position reports to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Participate in the layout and placement of machines in CCBD plant
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools
- Read and analyze layout of CCBD plant, engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to ensure that machines are properly placed and ready for installation
- Assemble and install machines using various hand and power tools
- Run tests to make sure that the newly installed machines work correctly. This includes leveling, calibrating, and lubricating machinery as needed
- Disassemble and discard older machines or, in some cases, move and reassemble them to another location in the plant to clear a space for new machines
- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment, will provide measurable improvements and enhancement systems. This includes identifying issues, running tests, ordering, and installing parts, and making temporary repairs, if possible, to keep machines working while awaiting parts
- Creating and overseeing a regular preventative maintenance schedule
- Check machines to identify and avoid potential issues, replace worn parts, make adjustments and re-calibrations, lubricate parts, and maintain updated maintenance logs
- Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
- Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations
- Daily completion of all documentation required
Qualifications/Desired Attributes
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- Red Seal Certification for Millwright or Industrial Mechanic
- 4th Class Power Engineer or willingness to obtain one considered an asset
- Experience with production/line machine and high-speed packaging is a must
- Knowledge with can line filler seamer setup
- Line maintenance experience within a food and beverage production environment
- Detailed-oriented with the ability to keep accurate records
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to liaise with individuals of all levels
- Excel in work situations where multi-tasking and adaptability are considered strengths
- High level of craftsmanship and the desire to grow and learn new skills
- Experience with pumps and valves
- Precision machinery component setups and alignment to 0.001 tolerances
- Precision measurement skills using dial indicators, micrometers, Vernier calipers, feeler gauges, and Pi tapes
- PLC automation controls experience
- Confined space, fall arrest, and forklift experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full-time position; the successful candidate should be a team player that can also work well independently with minimal supervision. The position requires a high level of maturity and mechanical skill.
