Job description

Recruiter – Headquarters – Full Time
Commissionaires Southern Alberta
Serve. Secure. Support.

At Commissionaires, we take pride in protecting communities with professionalism, integrity, and commitment to service. As trusted partners to law enforcement, government, and private-sector organizations across Canada, we provide meaningful career opportunities for dedicated professionals.

We are currently seeking an experienced Recruiter to support recruitment across Commissionaires Southern Alberta. This role is focused on identifying, attracting, and engaging qualified candidates to support a wide range of operational staffing needs.

If you are an experienced recruiter with a strong ability to find great candidates, build talent pipelines, and create a positive candidate experience, this is your opportunity to grow your career within one of Canada’s most trusted security organizations.

About the Role

In this position, you will manage recruitment activities from sourcing and advertising through screening, interviewing, candidate assessment, and onboarding. You will work closely with hiring managers and operational teams to understand recruitment needs and identify qualified candidates who align with position requirements.

You will develop creative sourcing strategies, maintain active candidate pipelines, build relationships with recruitment partners and community organizations, participate in career fairs and recruitment events, and use the Division’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to support an organized and effective recruitment process.

Why This Role Is Important

Your work helps ensure Commissionaires has the right people to deliver the professional, dependable service our clients and communities rely on. By proactively identifying and engaging qualified candidates, you help build a strong workforce that supports our commitment to protecting people and property and serving communities across Southern Alberta.

Recruitment also plays an important role in supporting Commissionaires’ mandate of providing meaningful employment opportunities to veterans, former members of the military and police, and others who want to contribute their skills and experience through service to Canadians.

What You Bring
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive recruitment experience, preferably in a high-volume or multi-site environment
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with the ability to travel as required
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Canadian government reliability security clearance and successfully complete a criminal background check
  • Demonstrated expertise in sourcing, attracting, screening, interviewing, and assessing candidates across a variety of roles
  • Proven ability to develop creative sourcing strategies and build proactive talent pipelines
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple vacancies and competing recruitment priorities, exercise sound professional judgment, and adapt quickly to changing needs
  • Ability to identify qualified candidates and provide informed recommendations to hiring managers
  • Proven ability to build relationships with recruitment partners, community organizations, educational institutions, and other talent sources
  • Experience coordinating and participating in job fairs, career fairs, and other recruitment initiatives
  • Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Ability to partner with operational leaders to develop targeted recruitment strategies that support staffing requirements and business objectives
  • Ability to analyze recruitment metrics and trends to improve sourcing effectiveness, candidate quality, and hiring timelines
  • Experience preparing recruitment reports, presenting findings, and communicating staffing insights and recommendations to senior leaders
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Recruitment, Business Administration, or a related field
  • CPHR and/or Registered Professional Recruiter designation, or progress toward a relevant professional designation, is considered an asset
  • Recent Canadian Forces or RCMP service is considered an asset
Working Conditions
  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week
  • Primarily standard office working conditions, with travel to regional offices and recruitment events as required
Why Build Your Career with Commissionaires?
  • A trusted Canadian not‑for‑profit employer with over 100 years of experience
  • Opportunities for advancement into specialized security and law‑enforcement support roles
  • Meaningful work that contributes directly to community safety
  • Supportive leadership and professional development programs
  • Interest and aptitude for future leadership opportunities within Talent Acquisition, including mentoring, workforce planning, and recruitment program development
