Job summary

McKinsey & Company in Calgary is seeking a proactive Recruiting professional to drive end-to-end hiring for Western Canada, spanning campus programs and experienced hires. You will partner with partners, consultants and leaders to shape recruitment strategy, manage interview days, and coordinate cultivation events to attract top talent.

Your Impact

You will be responsible for working with the broader Canadian recruiting team to drive and manage all aspect of recruiting for full‑time and summer roles for the Western Canada office, specifically focusing on Calgary.

You will also own all the efforts at our Western Canadian undergraduate and graduate sources, as well as source experienced professionals to join the office. You will collaborate with consultants and leaders for the location and sources to lead the recruiting strategy and execution to deliver on our overall recruiting priorities.

You will also be an integral member of the Canada recruiting team and support other Canadian recruiting efforts, including some hiring efforts into Toronto and Montreal where needed. You will also be part of the broader North America campus recruiting team.

You will collaborate with Partners, Professional Development and other office leaders to help develop and lead recruiting strategy for the location; build and maintain peer‑based relationships with leaders; partner with consultants, source recruiters, and other members of the recruiting community to plan and execute all aspects of core recruiting efforts, including attraction, assessment, cultivation and onboarding.

You will provide end‑to‑end management of the candidate through their progression in the recruiting process, including interview scheduling, responding to general questions, generating offer letters, planning, designing and executing tailored cultivation and onboarding strategies. You will build strong relationships with candidates to understand decision‑making criteria and provide counsel.

You will develop location specific messaging and value proposition to attract top talent to the location and understand the competitive landscape and what makes it unique and distinctive.

You will supplement on campus efforts with experienced hire recruitment to fill hiring needs, focusing on profiles that are a good fit for the location, keeping in mind policies and guidelines (e.g., client conflict policy, recruiting government officials.

You will manage interview days, including planning interview day schedules, working with consultants, Partners, Associate Partners, and EAs to manage participation efforts, and facilitate/lead decision meetings. You will lead ongoing management of candidate pipeline and data, using tools and systems while keeping key stakeholders informed.

You will plan and execute attraction and cultivation events (e.g., location presentations, small group events, interview days, dinners, office visits).

You will lead and own the Summer Internship program for the location, including individual and cohort‑based events.

You will conduct year‑end analysis on recruiting results and develop recommendations for improvements; ensure accurate and timely candidate data updates within appropriate recruiting tools.

You will take on additional responsibilities and special projects throughout the year and/or as they arise.

Your Qualifications and Skills
  • University degree required

  • Experience in professional services recruiting; experience recruiting within Calgary’s talent market or familiarity with energy, oil and gas, or natural resources is considered a strong asset
