Job summary

The Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority is seeking seasonal help for the Harbour West Marina to assist with recreational boat haul-out activities. The assignment runs from September 2026 for approximately 6 to 8 weeks, with a Monday to Friday 8am–4pm schedule and potential overtime.

Duties include hauling out boats, blocking, pressure washing, general maintenance, and safe operation of equipment. Prior experience with travel lifts up to 80 tonnes or heavy equipment is an asset; valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Physical task: lift up to 22.5 kg (50 lbs).
• Marina experience or knowledge of recreational boats is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with haul-out of recreational boats.
• Blocking boats that require manual lifting of heavy blocks.
• Pressure washing and general maintenance.
• Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority is seeking seasonal employees to assist the Harbour West Marina with recreational boat haul-out activities.

The position will commence in September 2026 and run for approximately 6-8 weeks.

Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8am-4pm with potential for overtime.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assisting with the haul-out of recreational boats
• Blocking boats requiring manual lifting of heavy blocks
• Pressure washing and general maintenance
• Operate machinery efficiently, effectively and safely
• Other duties as assigned
• Travel Lift (up to 80 tonnes) operation experience an asset
• Heavy Equipment operation experience and/or Forklift experience an asset

Working Conditions

Outdoors (working inclement weather); physically demanding, combination of standing, walking, bending, crouching & kneeling; working near/around water; must be able to lift weights up to 22.5 kg (50 lbs).
