Job summary

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with seniors, preferably in a long-term care setting.
• Graduate of a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation or other related field.
• Enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program with the intent to complete within three years of being hired.
• A post-secondary degree or diploma in a health care related field with demonstrated skills in planning, development and facilitation of recreation and leisure services in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, and runs a variety of meaningful recreation and leisure pursuits to promote wellbeing, purpose, creativity, a sense of community, lifelong learning, and fun.
• Assists in development, planning and implementing daily activities in home and community settings.
• Maintains engaging spaces/environments that support resident participation.
• Communicates with residents, families, volunteers and community groups; observes and reports changes in resident participation.
• Supports other departments to foster resident engagement and participates in program evaluation and quality improvement processes.
