Job summary

AgeCare Ltd. is hiring a Recreation Worker in Canada to plan, develop and run meaningful recreation and leisure activities in long-term care homes and the community. You will support resident well-being, foster connections with families and volunteers, and help maintain engaging environments that encourage participation and learning.

• Prior experience working with seniors, preferably in a long-term care setting.
• Graduate of a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies or related field.
• Enrolled in a program with the intent to successfully complete the program within three years of being hired.
• A post-secondary degree or diploma in a health care related field with demonstrated skills in recreation and leisure services in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, planning and implementing daily recreation activities in the home and community.
• Create and maintain engaging spaces/environments in the home to support meaningful resident activity.
• Develop and maintain good communications with residents, families, volunteers and community groups.
• Observe, report and document changes in residents' ability to participate and update plans of care as appropriate.
• Support all departments to foster resident engagement in meaningful ways.
• Lead programs in a manner that supports residents' skills and abilities.
• Participate in ongoing evaluation of the recreation program and related quality improvement processes.
