Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a dedicated Recreation and Volunteer Coordinator to plan, develop, and facilitate meaningful recreation and leisure activities that promote wellbeing, community, and lifelong learning within our residents' homes.

You will manage records, participate in program evaluation, and maintain supplies in alignment with infection control policies. A healthcare setting with seniors is preferred.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies or Therapeutic Recreation preferred.
• Degree or Diploma in related field (Kinesiology or Gerontology) with healthcare recreation experience.
• Provincial Safe Food Handling Certification required.
• Certificate in Volunteer Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, and facilitates recreation and leisure activities.
• Maintains department records and completes documentation in a timely manner.
• Supports program evaluation and quality improvement processes.
• Maintains recreation supplies and ensures infection control procedures are followed.

The Opportunity:

The Recreation and Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, and facilitating a variety of meaningful recreation and leisure pursuits which promote wellbeing, purpose, creativity, a sense of community, lifelong learning, and fun.

What Is In It For You:

• Maintains department records and completes all documentation as per required timelines, including: Resident Assessments/Re-Assessments, Care Planning, MDS Coding/RAPs, Progress Notes and Activity Pro.
• Participates in the on-going evaluation of the recreation and volunteer programs and related quality improvement processes.
• Maintains recreation supplies and other related tools/resources in good working condition and as per related infection control policies and procedures, reporting deficiencies to the Program Manager.

What You Will Need:

• Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies or Therapeutic Recreation is preferred.
• Degree or Diploma in a related field such as Kinesiology or Gerontology and related experience specific to providing recreation and leisure services in a healthcare setting, preferably with seniors.
• Provincial Safe Food Handling Certification.
• Certificate in Volunteer Management is preferred.

Salary Range: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

Salary placement based on qualifications and experience.
