Job summary

Interior Health’s Ashcroft & District Hospital is seeking a casual Recreation Therapy Worker to support resident well-being within a multidisciplinary team. You will create enriching individual and group activities, coordinate outdoor outings, and help uphold a resident-centered care approach.

The role emphasizes reporting observations and evaluating programs to continuously improve residents' quality of life, with shifts offered on short notice or pre-scheduled to cover leaves.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 completion is required.
  • Completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate outdoor outings and community-based recreation opportunities.

Join our Recreation Therapy Department at Ashcroft & District Hospital, where we prioritize resident well-being and foster a supportive community.

Your Role

As a Recreation Therapy Worker, you'll be an essential part of our interdisciplinary team, dedicated to creating enriching programs tailored to the unique needs of our residents. Your responsibilities will include organizing individual and group leisure activities, coordinating outdoor outings, and contributing to a resident-centered philosophy. Your adaptability and commitment to reporting observations and program evaluation will significantly enhance our residents' quality of life.

How will we help you grow?

Join our recreation team as a casual employee, where you'll enjoy variety, gain valuable experience, and have the chance to grow your career. Work hours range from 0 to 37.5 per week, with shifts available on short notice or pre-scheduled to cover leaves. Possible shift times are 13:00 to 17:00 or 12:00 to 16:00. Many of our team members start in casual roles and transition into permanent positions. Plus, we offer competitive wages, shift premiums, employer-paid training, and an Employee & Family Assistance Program to support you every step of the way.
