Alberta Health Services in Didsbury, AB is seeking a Recreation Therapist II to lead evidence-based, patient-and family-centred therapeutic recreation practice across three ADP sites. You will coordinate assessment, treatment, education and care, and provide clinical support and consultation to the care team.

You will participate in program development, protocols and education, and support quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies.
  • Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
  • Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership to ensure evidence-based, patient-centered practice.
  • Coordinate assessment, treatment, education and care of clients.
  • Develop protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives for service delivery.
  • Collaborate with health care team and participate in rounds, conferences and meetings.
  • Coordinate services for multiple Adult Day Program sites (Didsbury, Airdrie, Strathmore).

Your Opportunity

As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centered and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family. This position includes coordination, client assessment and program planning support for 3 ADP programs, Didsbury, Airdrie and Strathmore. Primary worksite is Didsbury and some occasional travel to the other sites may be required.

Required Qualifications

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies.
