Job summary

Covenant Health Canada’s Youville Home in St. Albert is seeking casual Recreation Assistants to join a pool. The role plans, organizes, and promotes meaningful recreation activities for residents based on their interests and abilities, with shifts offered on short notice.

Requirements include a high school diploma and experience with residents who have chronic illnesses or cognitive or physical disabilities. Basic computer skills and strong communication are essential.

We’re hiring for our casual pool! We are looking for dependable team members with flexible availability and the ability to respond to short notice shifts. Youville Home is a compassionate continuing care community offering a broad spectrum of services to support its residents, including an on-site nurse practitioner, occupational, physio, and recreation therapy, palliative care, and spiritual support. Our facility also features a chapel, open daily for quiet reflection, and hosts regular services. Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience working directly with residents living with chronic illnesses, cognitive impairments (such as dementia), physical disabilities, or age-related conditions that limit their independence. Proven experience facilitating recreational programming in long-term care, supportive living, or assisted living settings. Basic computer proficiency for communication, documentation, and scheduling. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient, and respectful approach. Effective verbal and written English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recreation Assistant Certificate an asset. Experience with electronic charting systems (e.g., Connect Care). Valid Class 4 driver’s license preferred. Applicants must indicate availability and ability to accept casual, varied shifts within the resume or cover letter.
