Job summary

Compass Early Learning and Care is seeking a Site Lead for our School Age Program in Peterborough. The role involves overseeing 11 sites, collaborating with ECEs, families and community partners, and ensuring licensing compliance and safety across programs.

You will work 35 hours weekly with a split schedule and some administration duties in the central office. A valid G license and strong knowledge of How Does Learning Happen are essential.

Qualifications

  • Familiar with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • 2–3 years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator or equivalent.
  • Has required training and documents: Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, updated immunization records.
  • Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators or has a post-secondary degree in a recognized field (e.g., CYC, Recreation and Leisure, B.Ed, Social Service Work)
  • Has a valid G Driver's License and access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team with ECEs, families, school communities, and children.
  • Ensure safety of staff and children.
  • Engage in difficult conversations with educators, families, children, and community partners.
  • Provide administrative and pedagogical time.
  • Act as a link for HR, Finance, Pedagogy, and Operations teams.
  • Provide nutritious snacks based on a menu aligned with guidelines.
  • Handle billing, accounts receivable, enrollments, and waitlists.
  • Ensure licensing requirements are met and aligned with How Does Learning Happen.
  • Welcome and train new staff in your program, including supply staff.
  • Plan and implement play-based experiences based on children’s interests.
  • Location will change within the 11 Peterborough School Age programs.
  • Work 35 hours per week with 25 hours in-program (7 am–9 am and 3 pm–6 pm) and 10 hours in admin.
  • Full-time hours during PA days, March break, summer camp and winter break.

The additional 10 hours per week you will be expected to work in our administration office for administrative tasks, documentation, and pedagogy.
