Job summary

PLASP Child Care Services in Caledon, ON is seeking a Program Director for the Before and After School Program serving kindergarten age children. The role involves creating a safe, engaging environment and managing a team to deliver high-quality extended day activities in accordance with CCEYA, HDLH and PLASP guidelines.

The successful candidate must have at least 3 years in child care, an ECE credential and RECE registration, a first aid certificate, a criminal reference check, and immunization

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in child care and community service, including supervision of staff
• Knowledge of CCEYA and MOE licensing requirements
• ECE degree/diploma and REGISTRATION with COLLEGE OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS (RECE)
• Current Standard First Aid with Level C CPR
• Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector
• Health requirements (immunizations) per CCEYA & MOH

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe, warm, caring environment for a high-quality extended day program
• Plan, develop and implement age-appropriate activities promoting children's well-being
• Budget and order food; prepare nutritious breakfast and snacks per Canada Food Guide
• Supervise and train staff, volunteers and placement students; conduct performance appraisals
• Handle program administration (registration, records, health & safety, supplies)
• Ensure MEDU standards are followed and CCEYA license is in good standing
• Participate in P.A. Days and provide safe care on/off school premises

Hourly Wage: $26.85**plus hourly Provincial Wage Enhancement if applicable** Hourly rate increased based on number of staff supervised within the program and RECE status

PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 38full-day early learning and child care centres and sixEarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

THE POSITION…

• The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:
• Establishing and maintaining a safe, warm and caring environment in which a high-quality extended day program can operate
  Planning, developing, and implementing programs of stimulating age appropriate activities for groups of children. Activities will promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being, in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?) and the guidelines established by PLASP for all program components including P.A. Days
• Budgeting and ordering food for the program, preparing nutritious breakfast and snacks while adhering to the guidelines of the Canada Food Guide, and in accordance with the rotational snack planner
• Supervising and training staff, Volunteers and Students on Placement (if applicable), by providing strong leadership, decision making and problem-solving skills and conducting regular performance appraisals
• Responsible for all administration for the program, including registration, record-keeping, health and safety monitoring and ordering of supplies
• Operating programs according to the Ministry of Education (MEDU) standards and ensures the CCEYA license is in good standing
• Participating fully in P.A. Days, by providing safe, reliable care on and off school premises

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE…

• A minimum 3 years’ experience in child care and community service organization (experience in supervision of staff preferred)
• Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education Licensing requirements
• An ECE degree/diploma and be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
• A valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with level C CPR
• A valid Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector
• All health requirements (immunizations) to be met in accordance with theCCEYAand Medical Officer of Health
