Job summary

Ian Martin Group is seeking an Engineer Power System Applications in Calgary, Alberta. The role supports reliable operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System by maintaining real-time power system applications and EMS models. You will work with the Operations Systems team to ensure system reliability and participate in on-call support.

Qualifications

2-4 years of engineering experience.
Familiarity with real-time reliability solutions such as AR/RC? (from provided)
Experience with real-time systems maintenance.
Proficiency with engineering scripting and programming languages.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

Manage and maintain reliable real-time operation of critical power system applications: AGC, state estimation, contingency analysis.
Update EMS models after topology changes.
Contribute to upgrades and strategic initiatives as SME in real-time power systems.
Propose process improvements for real-time power systems management.
Support AESO rules compliance.
Assist in project time estimation and scheduling.
Troubleshoot EMS during business hours.
Participate in on-call remote EMS support outside hours.
