Position Reporting To

National Real Estate Manager

Your Role and Responsibilities

The Real Estate Director manages leasing and buying transactions for the Canadian real estate portfolio. He/she is the main contact for providing internal businesses with optimal working, production, and warehousing environments. This role requires a dynamic leader capable of building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Building strategic relationships with local division leadership to understand their future real estate needs.
2. Participating in the development of real estate strategies for all business areas and divisions to enhance facilities for current and future needs.
3. Overseeing the acquisition, development, and management of real estate assets to support business growth.
4. Implementing action plans with the business to meet deadlines and communicate progress.
5. Leading and managing all real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and lease negotiations.
6. Providing regular updates and reports to senior management on ongoing transactions and projects.
7. Hiring and managing third-party consultants and professionals.
8. Analyzing legal documents related to real estate to identify rights and obligations.
9. Managing lease options and exercising rights in a timely and legal manner.
10. Managing leasing of vacant properties, appointing brokers, verifying tenant solvency, and negotiating lease terms.
11. Handling office space leasing, including renewals, searching for alternatives, and expanding existing spaces, in collaboration with the Legal Department.
