Job summary

City of Windsor is seeking a Legal Counsel (Real Estate) to provide comprehensive legal services with a focus on real estate and corporate/commercial matters. You will represent the City in real estate transactions and support administration and council with timely, accurate legal opinions and documents.

The role requires a JD/LLB and active status with the Law Society of Ontario, plus ability to travel and work with MS Office and legal research tools.

Qualifications

• Must have a JD, LLB or equivalent and two years of broad legal experience with emphasis on real estate and corporate/commercial law.
• Must be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
• Knowledge of municipal law and Municipal Act is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal services to the Corporation in real estate and corporate/commercial law.
• Represent the City in real estate and corporate transactions.
• Draft agreements, by-laws, policies and reports to CAO and Council.
• Prepare legal opinions for City Council and Administration.
• Perform other related duties as required.
