Job summary

GFT is seeking a RAM Engineer to join our Practice or CBG Team, in Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia. You will support Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability activities across rail transit projects under guidance from senior staff.

You will develop RAM analyses, maintainability studies and performance models, while coordinating with safety and systems teams. The role includes proposal support and lifecycle-cost evaluations within a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related STEM discipline.
• Eligible for Professional Engineer registration considered an asset.
• 3-7 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Familiarity with Reliability Block Diagrams, FMEA/FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, Markov techniques, or maintainability analysis.
• Knowledge of CENELEC EN 50126.
• Familiarity with railway operations and maintenance principles.
• Awareness of system safety concepts and hazard management processes.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Proficiency in technical reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Familiar with safety interactions; coordinate RAM with safety engineering.
• Assist in RAM program execution and target setting.
• Prepare RAM diagrams, fault trees and availability models.

• Assist in spare parts optimization and lifecycle cost evaluations.
• Review RAM submissions from suppliers/contractors.
• Support RAM demonstrations and verification activities.
• Coordinate with safety and systems engineering teams.
• Support proposals and business development efforts.

GFT is seeking a RAM Engineer to join our Practice or CBG Team in either Ontario, Alberta; or British Colombia.

Under the supervision of a Senior RAM Engineer or RAMS Manager, the RAM Engineer supports Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability activities throughout the lifecycle of rail transit systems projects.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

The RAM Engineer develops reliability analyses, maintainability studies, performance models, maintenance concepts, and RAM requirements. Familiarity with system safety concepts and interaction between safety and RAM activities is expected.

• Support execution of project RAM programs.
• Develop RAM requirements and performance targets.
• Conduct reliability analyses using recognized engineering methods.
• Support preparation of Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD), Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), and availability models.
• Support Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA) activities.
• Assist in development of maintenance strategies and maintenance concepts.
• Support spare parts optimization and lifecycle cost evaluations.
• Review supplier and contractor RAM submissions.
• Support RAM demonstrations and performance verification activities.
• Coordinate with safety and systems engineering teams.
• Support technical proposals and business development efforts.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $97,000.00 - $144,000.00. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
