Western Labrador Rail Service Inc. seeks a dedicated Conductor to ensure the safe movement of trains and railcars from the Wabush/Labrador City area (NL). The role requires adherence to Transport Canada rules, and the candidate must be ready to work a 14/14 or 13/15 schedule with 12-hour days. This permanent, unionized position offers benefits and security.

Eligible candidates should live in Newfoundland and Labrador and pass a comprehensive background check as part of the process.

Qualifikationen

• Must possess a high school diploma.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Is or has recently been a qualified railway conductor.
• Must be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
• During the 13 or 14-day work cycle, must be prepared to work on call on a 24hour basis.

Aufgaben

• Understand and comply with all rules, regulations, safety procedures and standards from the company and several government agencies, including Transport Canada.
• Safely manage, control, and communicate the movements of the train and railcars using radio and by written authorization.
• In all weather conditions, manually operate track switches, apply, and release handbrakes, connect hoses, and perform safety inspections.
• Read, interpret, and execute work lists.
• Prepare required daily reports, both manually and/or electronically.
• Successfully perform job briefings before and during duty and interacts effectively with the railway authorities.
• Other related tasks.
