Cando Rail & Terminals in Alberta seeks a Switchperson to provide safe and efficient rail car switching on customer sites or at our terminals. This role demands teamwork, a proactive approach, and a commitment to safety in all weather conditions.

As part of a busy operations team at Sturgeon Terminal, you will follow CROR rules, perform locomotive inspections, complete logs, and support on-site operations. The job offers training, safety culture, and opportunities to grow within Canada’s leading

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or GED is required.
• Ability to read/write general documentation and safety briefings.
• Physically fit and able to lift and secure rail car brakes, derails, and switches.
• Willing to work up to 12 hours per shift in all weather, days/nights, 7 days a week.
• Ability to pass drug/alcohol screening and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation of locomotive and conduct safety briefings.
• Apply switching procedures and operate switches/derails; manage air hoses and handbrakes.
• Perform daily locomotive inspections and safety checks.
• Complete daily reports, logs, and on-site documents.
• Support and assist with all on-site operations.
• Promote safe work habits and report problems promptly.
• Provide excellent customer service and teamwork.
