Egis Canada seeks a Rail Requirements Management Specialist to support requirements management activities on ongoing transit projects. You will engage with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the overall engineering process and client-facing delivery in Canada.

The role emphasizes coordinating with rail systems disciplines, maintaining traceability, and applying relevant standards. A Bachelor's in Engineering is required; Master’s degree and bilingualism are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Interest in Rail & Transit Infrastructure and transportation fundamentals.
  • Experience with requirements management tools; bilingualism valued.

  • Support end-to-end traceability across rail systems design and operations.
  • Assist audits and compliance checks.
  • Present technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines and project managers to complete RM tasks.
  • Reference standards such as ISO/IEC 15288, INCOSE, AREMA, NEC/NFPA.

Job Description

We are looking for a Rail Requirements Management Specialist for requirements management activities in on-going projects. This is an excellent opportunity for engineering graduate interested in being part of the overall engineering process while engaging with key internal and external stakeholders with client facing delivery to gain hands‑on experience in a real-world engineering environment.


Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:


  • Assisting senior staff on a variety of projects such as new transit rail project and subway works across Canada.

  • Supporting the creation, organization, and updates of project requirements in the requirements management tool (IBM DOORS NG or similar).

  • Undertaking support in coordination of end-to-end traceability across requirements for rail systems design (signaling, communication system, traction power, overhead catenary etc.), operations and maintenance planning, interface design, requirements writing and support requirements engineering activities.

  • Supporting audits and compliance checks.

  • Presenting technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines, including rail systems disciplines and working in conjunction with project managers to help complete assigned RM tasks.

  • Reference applicable standards applicable such as ISO/IEC 15288 and INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering) guideline, AREMA (American Railway Engineer and Maintenance of way Association) Manual of Railway Engineering, Agency Design Standards, NFPA-130, National Electric Code, and related specifications for design of the above elements.

  • Participating in multiple projects throughout their lifecycles, from market engagement, solution preparation, project execution and delivery, to project closeout.

  • Understanding trends and best practices in the permanent way and rail engineering market.


Qualifications

Required


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Management Engineering, Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Electronic, Information systems or similar).

  • Demonstrated interest in Rail & Transit Infrastructure.

  • Sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals related to transportation.

  • Familiarity with requirements management software.

  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.

  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels.

  • Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future.


Preferred


  • Master’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Electronic, Information systems or similar).

  • EIT/ FE Certification.

  • Coursework in transportation design.

  • Knowledge of applicable codes such as AREMA, Agency Design Standards, NEC/NFPA, and related specifications and standards for design of the above elements.

  • Understanding of requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS or Perforce Helix.

  • Comprehension of the Systems Engineering “V” Life Cycle Process.

  • Familiarity with civil engineering design and analysis tools for rail, roads, and/or water systems.

  • Proficiency in data processing and analysis using tools such as Excel, VBA, Python, or other applicable tools.

  • Evidence of past internship in the transportation sector.

  • Bilingual in French and English.
