Job summary

The Radiation Safety Institute of Canada seeks a Scientist to support technical services, training programs, and consulting projects in Health Physics. You will work with Institute scientists and staff on activities involving radioactive sources and instrumentation.

The role requires a graduate degree in Physics or Health Physics, 3-5 years Health Physics experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Physics, Health Physics or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Strong understanding of radiation physics and radiation safety programming.
  • Strong experience with radiation instrumentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with quality management systems with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication and teamwork.
  • Efficient and able to work independently with little supervision and deadlines.
  • 3-5 years operational experience in Health Physics.

Responsibilities

Job description

Employer Name: Radiation Safety Institute of Canada

The Scientist works with Institute scientists and technical staff providing support for Institute technical services and assigned projects, radiation safety training programs and services and consulting projects in Health Physics. The National Laboratories delivers technical services in Health Physics of which include:

  • -National Personal Alpha Dosimetry
  • -Instrument testing and calibration
  • -Sealed source leak testing
  • -National Radon Chamber
  • -Advanced radiation measurement
  • -Radon testing
  • -Consulting Services
  • -Training Services
  • -Technical services research and program development

In the performance of duties, the Scientist will work with radioactive sources.

The Institute will provide laboratory safety, radiation safety and workplace training for the successful applicant.

Qualifications and Skills

  • -Graduate degree in Physics, Health Physics or equivalent education and work experience.
  • -Strong understanding of radiation physics and radiation safety programming.
  • -Strong experience with radiation instrumentation.
  • -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • -Experience with quality management systems with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • -Detail-orientated.
  • -Excellent communication skills, problem solving and teamwork abilities.
