Job summary

Blue Mountain Resort in Ontario is seeking a Race Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operation of our alpine race programs, ensuring a safe, organized, and high-quality experience for athletes, coaches, and families.

You will supervise race coaches, coordinate training and event operations, plan course setup and hill space, and maintain program documentation while fostering athlete development and a positive team culture.

Qualifications

  • Leadership and coaching experience in alpine ski racing
  • Knowledge of alpine race programming and athlete development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and developing team members
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Knowledge of risk management and safety in race environments
  • Advanced skiing ability and understanding of race courses
  • Coaching certifications are an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily operation of race programming, including staff supervision and race day activities

  • Ensure race programs and venues meet safety standards and governing body requirements
  • Act as a key contact for athletes, parents, and coaches
  • Support race event operations and course maintenance
  • Monitor staffing levels and resources to meet budget targets
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling of coaches
  • Maintain program documentation and training records

WHAT WILL I BE DOING

The Race Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of Blue Mountain's race programs, ensuring a safe, organized, and high-quality experience for athletes, coaches, and families. This role provides leadership to race coaches and support staff, coordinates race training and event operations, and maintains program excellence through effective communication, coaching development, and operational oversight. Working closely with the Race Manager, the Race Supervisor helps deliver exceptional programming while supporting athlete development and departmental objectives.

  • Lead and coordinate the daily operation of race programming, including staff supervision, training schedules, attendance tracking, and race day activities.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support race coaches through ongoing coaching, performance feedback, training, and development initiatives.
  • Plan, organize, and communicate daily and seasonal race training environments, including hill space allocation, course set-up, and event preparation.
  • Ensure all race programs, training venues, and events operate safely and in accordance with departmental standards, risk management protocols, and governing body requirements.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for athletes, parents, and coaches, providing clear communication and addressing questions or concerns in a professional manner.
  • Support race event operations, including venue preparation, staffing coordination, course maintenance, and event execution.
  • Monitor staffing levels, labour allocations, and operational resources to ensure efficient program delivery and alignment with budget targets.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and developing coaches to build a strong and engaged team.
  • Maintain program documentation, training records, certifications, and operational reports as required.
  • Foster a positive, athlete-focused culture that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, engagement, skill development, and exceptional participant experiences.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or coaching experience within alpine ski racing or a related sport environment.
  • Strong knowledge of alpine race programming, race operations, and athlete development principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage athletes, parents, coaches, and resort partners.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of risk management, safety standards, and operational practices related to race training and competition environments.
  • Advanced skiing ability and a strong understanding of race course environments and hill operations.
  • Relevant coaching certifications considered an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and race event schedules.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional guest and athlete experiences while fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
