Job summary

Blue Mountain Resort in Ontario is hiring Alpine Ski Coaches to lead and safely supervise young ski racers from U8 to U18. You will design, implement, and adjust seasonal training plans, demonstrate techniques, and communicate with parents and Supervisors to ensure a high-quality race environment.

We require ACA-CSC Level 1 and CSIA Level 1 certifications, ability to work outdoors in varying weather, and weekend availability from Christmas through March Break.

Qualifications

  • Must hold ACA-CSC Entry Level Trained/Certified (Level 1).
  • Must hold CSIA Level 1 certification.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Previous race coaching or ski instructing experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, fun alpine ski racing environment for athletes on snow and on hill.
  • Design, implement, evaluate and adjust season-long training and competition plans with the coaching team.
  • Engage, motivate and lead athletes alongside your co-coach and co-workers.
  • Provide frequent alpine skiing demonstrations and lead by example.
  • Maintain a lesson plan and training journal.
  • Communicate with parents at start and end of day and throughout the day.
  • Promote Blue Mountain and serve as a role model for participants.

Hourly Rate
  • Entry Level Coach (Level 1) $19.52
  • Development Level Coach (Level 2) $21.69
  • Performance Level Coach (Level 3) $29.92
  • Pay is increased by certifications and experience.
Full Or Part-time Hours
  • Full Time: Average 4-5 shifts/week
  • Part Time: Average 2-3 shifts/week
  • Must be able to work weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) from January through to March Break.

The Alpine Ski Coach (i.e. Race Coach) is responsible for the safety, skill development and supervision of all athletes on their alpine ski team. We are currently looking to fill coaching positions within any of our ski racing programs from U8/U10 to U16/U18. It is also the responsibility of the Coach to help the Supervisors create and enable an athlete centered race training environment by providing high-quality service in a professional, well-organized and informed manner. The Coach will also assist the Manager, Head Coach, Supervisors and Race Coordinators with all aspects of training and race day duties as required.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING
  • Provide a safe, fun and personalized alpine ski racing and training environment for skill development of athletes on snow and on hill.
  • Work with the Manager of Race, Head Coach, Race Supervisors and your co-coach to design, implement, evaluate and adjust season-long training and competition plans.
  • Engage, motivate and lead your team and athletes alongside your co-coach/co-worker.
  • Teach by example with frequent alpine skiing demonstrations.
  • Be prepared with a lesson plan and maintain an accurate journal of training activities.
  • Regular communication with parents at the start and at the end of the day and throughout the course of the day with your athletes/participants.
  • Promote Blue Mountain and acts as role model for participants and athletes in sport.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Must hold a minimum ACA-CSC Entry Level Trained/Certified qualification (i.e. Level 1).
  • Must hold a minimum Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) Level 1.
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in a variety of unpredictable weather conditions.
  • Previous race, race coach and/or ski instructing experience considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent customer services skills.
  • Must be able to work weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) from Christmas through March Break.
  • Successful applicants who are 18 years of age or older will be required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check.
