Job summary

AD Elevator Inc. in Mississauga, ON, seeks an experienced R&D Mechanical Designer to develop mechanical components and assemblies from concept to production-ready design. You will collaborate with electrical, firmware, and production teams to bring new elevator interiors and fixtures to market.

The role requires hands-on prototyping, strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or Inventor), and 5+ years of mechanical design experience. AutoCAD proficiency and knowledge of electronics are assets; P.Eng.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or equivalent relevant experience
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience, including sheet metal design (intermediate to senior level)
• Experience in manufacturing industry preferred
• Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies such as enclosures/shells, brackets, plates, and supporting structures; understanding of elevator interiors and fixtures an asset
• Strong ability in mechanical design, including modeling, detailing, and design for manufacturing (DFM)
• Hands‑on experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor) required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drawings and layouts, used for less complex design needs
• Knowledge of electronics and electrical principles
• Strong understanding of quality requirements and design flow
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
• Strong analytical skills, highly logical problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail
• Active Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) status an asset
• Prior experience with Jira and Confluence an asset
• Clear Background Checks – Criminal (required)
• Eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies from concept through production‑ready design
• Lead or support complex product development projects requiring advanced design expertise
• Produce accurate 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs with minimal errors
• Conduct prototype builds and basic assembly of golden samples for validation
• Provide technical input to support cost estimates, product pricing, and proposals
• Support product certification and compliance activities (ETL/Intertek, CSA, ASME A17.1/B44)
• Provide hands‑on technical support to the manufacturing production team
• Develop assembly procedures, work instructions, and supporting technical documentation
• Coordinate design decisions with electrical, firmware, and production teams
• Provide design support to sales and marketing; work with project managers and suppliers
• Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance
• Other duties as assigned; lift up to 15 lbs; participate in 5S and safety activities
• Hours: 8:00am–4:30pm at Mississauga location
