This role is based in our office in Mississauga, Ontario, and reports to the R&D Team Leader.

Job Summary

The R&D Group (IPEX Technologies Inc.) provides expertise in polymer formulation development, product testing to ensure conformance to standards, troubleshooting failures in the field, and evaluating new ingredients to maintain and enhance IPEX's product portfolio and market position.

The successful candidate will:

  • Contribute to the development of new and existing vinyl formulations.
  • Evaluate physical, mechanical, chemical, thermal, and rheological properties of polymers such as PVC, CPVC, ABS, PE, PP, PVDF.
  • Assist in sourcing raw materials through ingredient evaluation projects.
  • Participate in extrusion and injection molding trials.
  • Use analytical tools to identify root causes of product failures.
  • Apply statistical analysis tools to validate findings.
  • Write technical lab reports and present experimental results.
  • Maintain an up-to-date laboratory notebook and track project records using FileMaker Pro databases.
  • Assist with 5S initiatives and maintain a clean working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Materials/Polymer Science.
  • Previous co-op experience in plastics industry or R&D is highly preferred.
  • Experience with DOE and statistical tools like Minitab is an asset.
  • Ability to follow SOPs.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Results-oriented with a professional attitude.
