Job summary

EMCO Corporation in Canada seeks a Quotations & Operations Specialist to interpret project requirements, prepare competitive quotations, and submit packages for engineers, contractors, and business owners. You will ensure timely responses and drive gross profit targets while negotiating pricing with vendors and customers.

Qualifications

  • College and/or University degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years wholesale distribution experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong work ethic and high integrity.
  • Able to interpret performance data to improve profitability.
  • Excellent communication with customers, vendors, and teammates.
  • Willing to learn and operate the required software and material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate quotations and submittal packages from drawings and specifications.
  • Negotiate pricing and delivery terms with vendors and customers.
  • Expedite orders and follow up on outstanding quotations.
  • Analyze inventory and improve productivity and profitability.
  • Train teammates and support the Profit Centre Team.
  • Review daily sales reports and manage annual physical inventory count.
  • Resolve customer, vendor, and carrier issues promptly.

Job Description

As a Quotations & Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for interacting with engineers, contractors, business owners and interpreting project requirements to create competitive quotations and submittal packages. You will provide exceptional customer service required to secure the sale and meet or exceed gross profit targets. In addition, you will negotiate with vendors to obtain the best pricing, delivery, and terms of purchase to ensure optimal order fill rates and high levels of customer satisfaction for project material. You will also analyze and manage processes at the Profit Centre, solve problems and continually strive to find the most effective methods for productivity improvements. You will be accountable for implementing change and training the teammates involved.

Additional duties will include:

  • Interpret complex information including civil plans to determine customer requirements and offer solutions that maximize profitability and create high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Create accurate and professional quotations packages from customer specifications/drawings using applicable software
  • Negotiate pricing and delivery terms with both vendors and customers; expedite orders when required
  • Follow up on outstanding quotations to secure orders and improve upon the process and effectiveness
  • Investigate customer and vendor problems, and resolve pricing shortfalls and material returns in a timely manner
  • Support the Profit Centre Team as an expert in the specifics around projects and operations
  • Schedule and train teammates to ensure efficient, effective, and profitable operations at the Profit Centre
  • Analyze data and implement appropriate strategies to increase sales, improve operating efficiencies, manage assets, and increase ROI and profit sharing in conjunction with the sales team andProfit Centre Manager
  • Review daily sales reports and address issues immediately
  • Manage the annual physical inventory count; ensure the count is done efficiently and accurately by evaluating inventory reports regularly
  • Resolve all customer, vendor and carrier complaints and disputes quickly and effectively
  • Understand and follow all safety regulations at all customer locations as well as at the Profit Centre
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Profit Centre Manager
Qualifications
  • College and/or University degree
  • A minimum of 2 years of wholesale distribution experience
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office software
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high standard of integrity
  • Create a positive team environment, training and inspiring the team to do their best work and to achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction
  • High energy with strong communication skills to build strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and teammates
  • Able to interpret performance data to determine efficacy of business operations and take appropriate action to adjust the process for maximum profitability
  • Ability to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders
  • Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience with or knowledge of Waterworks/Underground utilityproducts sold at the Profit Centre
  • Experience using InforM3

Salary Range - $45,000 - $55,000 / Year
