Job summary

Xanadu, Toronto-based quantum software company, seeks an experienced Software Development Manager to lead the PennyLane Core Quantum Software team. You will guide a 7-10 person team building features for the PennyLane framework, coordinating with Product Managers and cross-functional groups to deliver high-quality open-source software.

Experience in quantum software is not required, but an advanced scientific degree is strongly preferred and you will be involved in hiring, mentoring, and driving

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Physics, Math, CS or related field.
• 7+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of management experience.
• Ability to understand and apply complex mathematical concepts.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 7-10 developers to build new features and improve performance of the PennyLane framework.
• Define direction and roadmap for the team with Product Managers.
• Participate in sprints with cross-functional teams to deliver features efficiently and on time.
• Drive library adoption and ensure feedback loops between external stakeholders and internal teams.
• Develop and improve processes to boost developer efficiency and adherence to software best practices.
• Maintain high responsiveness to bugs, issues, and external open-source contributions.
• Perform team-building activities such as hiring, mentorship, career development and performance management.

Education

Advanced degree in Physics, Math, Computer Science or a related field
