In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain custom applications that support various portfolio management capabilities. Working closely with cross-functional teams and engaging directly with investment desks, you will translate business and data needs into efficient, high-quality solutions. Your strong programming expertise, data engineering experience, and understanding of financial markets will be crucial as you help drive our technology forward in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain custom applications for portfolio management.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their requirements and transform them into effective technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to fulfill data needs and deliver robust solutions.
  • Interact directly with investment desks to ensure that applications effectively support their operations.
  • Implement and optimize data pipelines and ETL processes from various sources.
  • Develop and maintain data models and schemas to support analytical and reporting functions.
  • Implement data quality checks and monitoring systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Stay updated with technology trends and best practices in data engineering and software development.
  • Contribute to the evolution of best practices and standards within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • CFA or CSC completed or in progress preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in software development and data engineering.
  • Strong expertise in Python and SQL programming required.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and investment management concepts is a plus.
  • Experience in investment data analytics and modeling is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain and support existing applications and systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts and frameworks is advantageous.
  • Experience with data engineering tools and frameworks such as Airflow, Prefect, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Streamlit, Dash, or similar.

Salary :

$81,600.00 - $151,200.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
