Objective & Overview

Lafarge, Canada’s leading construction materials supplier, has an opportunity for a Quality Technician at our Meldrum Bay Quarry

The hourly rate starts at $27.92 and increases to $28.92 after probation.

Responsibilities

Safety: Implement Lafarge Safety Policies, ensure compliance with legislation, conduct safety inductions, perform Job Hazard Analyses, and execute safety improvement plans.
Aggregate Product Performance: Ensure product compliance with codes and standards, implement quality programs including sampling and testing, monitor KPI performance, investigate variances, and develop site-specific actions to improve or utilize materials. Collaborate with sales and operations to meet customer expectations.

Physical Attributes: Regularly use hands, stand, walk, climb, reach, talk, hear, and smell. Occasionally work in awkward positions, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs, occasionally over 50 lbs. Must have vision abilities including close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work outdoors in all weather, around moving equipment, with PPE such as safety boots, glasses, gloves, and helmet.

Relationship with Others: Reports to the Quality Control Supervisor. Collaborates with production, distribution, and sales teams.

Specific Accountabilities: Safety, Product Performance, Customer Support, Quality Control, Troubleshooting, Cost Management, Policies & Training.

Dimensions: Starting wage based on experience. Must possess a full G-class driver’s license.

Qualifications: Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or related field preferred; Ontario high school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in construction materials industry and knowledge of quality control tests are advantageous. Excellent communication skills, team and independent work capability, computer literacy, and a G2 driver’s license are required.

Work Environment: Outdoor and indoor work in all weather, flexible hours including overtime and weekends, physical tasks including lifting and equipment handling.
