We currently have an immediate opportunity for a Sanitation Lead Technician II to join the BAR DIVISION at our ONTARIO, CALIFORNIA location. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Shift Hours: 3pm - 1:30am; weekend availability required

Position Summary

Responsible for performing a variety of technical duties to support and ensure proper operation of the wastewater functions (DAF), including collections, treatment and waste; performs duties relating to the operation, maintenance, and repair of other sanitation responsibilities as necessary. Fulfilling duties of Sanitation Tech I as needed.

This position reports directly to Sanitation Manager.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operates the wastewater systems (DAF)
  • Performs routine to complex tasks associated with utilities equipment. This includes calibrating; cleaning; adjustment of pumps, valves, and fluid levels; and recording and logging test results, readings, and observed conditions.
  • Monitors the flow of wastewater through the collections and treatment of DAF system
  • Operates, maintains and troubleshoots the solids handling process, cleans systems equipment, such as DAF unit, equalization tanks, solids reservoir, shaker, etc.
  • Inspects and ensures proper operation of equipment, reads meters and instruments; reports and records any failures or operating difficulties
  • Schedules solids on a as needed basis
  • Requests for parts from MRO buyer
  • Monitors and maintain chemical inventories
  • Prepares discharge monitoring reports; ensures discharge is compliant with regulatory requirements and consistent with operational needs
  • Comply with PPE, SOP’s and GMP Standards
  • Complete understanding of SSOP’s and Work Instructions
  • Complete understanding of the definition of “Dry Cleaning”, “Wet Clean”, “COP”, “CIP”, “Allergen Clean”
  • Knowledge of Chemical Safety and working with caustic and acid detergents
  • Ability to work and communicate efficiently with Supervisors or/and Leads to ensure on time start-ups
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities related to Food Safety, Quality of the product, processes, quality system or safety systems
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment
  • Promote teamwork and a constructive work environment
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities, to work effectively under strict time constraints.

  • Must possess strong communication skills- accurate transfer of skills and information orally and in writing
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of plant processes and procedures
  • Must be able to give and take direction well
  • Ability to delegate functions to sanitation and production personnel
  • Willingness to learn, understand and teach new tasks
  • Initiate and/or assist in continuous improvement and training program

Working Conditions And Physical Efforts

  • Constand standing, walking, stopping, and bending
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work in environment with caustic or acid chemicals
  • Wear PPE as defined in standards operating procedures
  • Climb ladders and stairs and work in high environment
  • Pushing and pulling occasionally
  • May require standing for a period of 8 hours or more in a day

Working Relationship

  • Internal-Plant Management, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, R&D, Warehouse and Maintenance
  • External- Visitors, Vendors, Suppliers, and Contractors

Qualifications Required

Experience and Requirements:

  • Displays a positive attitude, has high energy and enthusiasm towards the new training program, leads by example.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Advance computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of food processing equipment.
  • Trains and encourage others to succeed. Continuously develops personal skills and abilities.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrates perseverance in completing work, sticks to the schedule. Commitment to urgency in driving improvement performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Education: High School
