Job summary

AdvanTec Marine in Canada is seeking a Quality & Safety Inspector to join a fast-paced manufacturing team. You will conduct inspections throughout the manufacturing process, maintain quality records, investigate non-conformances, and support quality and safety programs to ensure products meet the highest standards.

This role comprises 70% shop-floor inspections, problem-solving, and documentation, and about 30% of your time at a desk, enabling continuous improvement and adherence to

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality inspection environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process inspections throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct final inspections of completed products prior to shipment.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy, workmanship, completeness, and compliance with specifications.
  • Ensure proper product identification, traceability, and documentation.

About The Role

As our Quality & Safety Inspector, you'll play a critical role in ensuring products meet customer specifications and quality standards before they reach the field. You'll conduct inspections throughout the manufacturing process, maintain quality records, investigate non-conformances, and support our quality management and safety programs.

This position offers a dynamic combination of 70% shop-floor inspections, problem-solving, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives, with about 30% of your time spent at a desk

What You'll Be Doing
Quality Assurance & Inspection
  • Perform in-process inspections throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct final inspections of completed products prior to shipment.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy, workmanship, completeness, and compliance with specifications.
  • Ensure proper product identification, traceability, and documentation.
  • Complete quality records, inspection reports, and checklists accurately.
Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
  • Create and maintain Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA).
  • Support audit readiness and quality documentation management.
  • Monitor adherence to quality procedures and standards.
  • Assist with calibration tracking and inspection equipment verification.
Safety & Compliance
  • Support company safety initiatives and training programs.
  • Assist with safety records, reporting, and compliance activities.
  • Support the administration of the company's 6S program.
  • Help maintain regulatory, quality, and security program documentation.
What We're Looking For
Required Skills & Experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality inspection environment.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as:
    • Vernier calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Weld inspection gauges
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience with quality documentation and record keeping.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with windows, doors, or custom fabricated products.
  • Experience with calibration programs and material testing.
  • ISO Internal Auditor training.
  • NDT certification or other inspection certifications.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Forklift Certification.

Within your first year, you'll become a key contributor to our quality management system by:

  • Leading in-process and final quality inspections.
  • Identifying quality concerns before products reach customers.
  • Supporting corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Helping maintain a culture of quality, accountability, and safety.
Physical & Working Environment

This role combines office and shop-floor responsibilities. You'll spend time in both manufacturing and warehouse environments and should be comfortable:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Working around manufacturing equipment, noise, dust, and metal materials
