Job summary

Ralmax Group Holdings Ltd (Point Hope Maritime) in Victoria, BC, is seeking a Quality Control Technologist - industrial engineering to support manufacturing and shipyard operations in a fast-paced industrial environment.

You will conduct inspections, verify compliance with drawings, specs, and standards, maintain calibration records, and contribute to continuous improvement through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Completion of college diploma or program in industrial engineering technology, manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering technology, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, shipbuilding, marine repair, or fabrication environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality assurance principles, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and production documents.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections during vessel repair, maintenance, machining, and fabrication projects to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, contracts, and applicable standards.
  • Inspect welding, piping, mechanical, structural, coating, machining, and assembly work to ensure materials and workmanship meet quality requirements.
  • Perform dimensional and process inspections using calibrated measuring and testing equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and torque wrenches.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze inspection, operational, and measurement data and assist in preparing technical specifications, reports, and process-improvement recommendations.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports, non-conformance reports, calibration records, certificates, checklists, and other quality documentation.
  • Identify and document non-conformities, assist with root-cause investigations, and verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Maintain and coordinate the calibration of precision measuring and testing equipment and ensure calibration records remain current.
  • Develop, review, and update quality procedures, inspection methods, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Monitor vessel repair, fabrication, and production processes, inspect work at various stages, and assist in developing or improving processing procedures, inspection methods, and process controls.
  • Perform coating and surface-preparation inspections, including lead‑paint screening using XRF equipment when required.
  • Verify compliance with customer requirements, marine regulations, ISO 9001, and classification‑society standards such as ABS, Lloyd’s Register, and DNV.
  • Coordinate inspection activities with project managers, production teams, engineering personnel, subcontractors, vessel representatives, and classification‑society surveyors.
  • Participate in internal quality audits and work with operations, engineering, purchasing, maintenance, and HSSE teams to resolve quality and process issues.

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Quality Control Technologist - industrial engineering to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to the efficient operation of our manufacturing processes while supporting production activities in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:
