Job summary

Nutreco, a leader in animal nutrition, is seeking a Quality Officer Lead for its St. Marys, ON site. You will own and improve the facility's QC program, lead QA for QC systems, and drive data-driven actions to ensure regulatory compliance and continual quality improvement.

You will collaborate across Operations, Production, and Supply Chain to manage audits, documentation, and feed safety initiatives while serving as the site SME for quality program management.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Food Science, Agriculture, Animal Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in food, feed, pet food, agriculture, or manufacturing environments.
• Experience maintaining and improving HACCP, GMP, feed safety, and quality management systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements, including CFIA, HACCP, FeedAssure, and FSSC 22000 (asset).
• Experience investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, trend analysis, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve the facility's Quality Control (QC) program.
• Act as the Quality Assurance lead for QC systems, ensuring sampling, testing, environmental monitoring, verification, and laboratory programs are compliant.
• Identify quality risks, analyze data trends, support investigations and corrective actions, drive continuous improvement.
• Support audits, maintain documentation, strengthen feed safety programs, and serve as site SME for quality control.

What you'll do

As the Quality Officer Lead, you will be responsible for owning and continuously improving the facility's Quality Control (QC) program. Acting as the Quality Assurance lead for QC systems, you will ensure that sampling, testing, environmental monitoring, verification activities, and laboratory programs are effective, risk-based, and compliant with regulatory and certification requirements. Working closely with Operations, Production, Supply Chain, QC personnel, and external laboratory partners, you will identify quality risks, analyze data trends, support investigations and corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will also play a key role in supporting audits, maintaining documentation, strengthening feed safety programs, and serving as the site subject matter expert for quality control and program management.

You'll also need

• Post-secondary education in Food Science, Agriculture, Animal Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in food, feed, pet food, agriculture, or manufacturing environments
• Experience maintaining and improving HACCP, GMP, feed safety, and quality management systems
• Knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements, including CFIA, HACCP, FeedAssure, and FSSC 22000 (considered an asset)
• Experience conducting investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated ability to influence positive change through process improvement and technical leadership
• Comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance frameworks, industry best practices, regulatory standards, and quality management methodologies
• Experience supporting audits, inspections, permit renewals, regulatory compliance activities, and quality documentation management
