Job summary

NOV in Canada seeks a Quality Inspector for night shift (10pm–6am) to read engineering drawings, verify dimensions with precision tools, and document NCRs in JDE. You will interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to maintain strict quality standards.

Ideal candidates will have experience with measuring equipment, CAD software such as SolidWorks, and familiarity with ERP systems. Training and safety policies are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Experience or training with measuring equipment, plus strong computer and math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • JDE, Oracle, Hubble, Bar Tender.
  • Microsoft Office, Solid Works (CAD Software).
  • Overhead Crane and Forklift certificates are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, charts and tables to inspect machined parts and relines.
  • Verify dimensions with micrometers, calipers, SMT and CMM for stators and rotors.
  • Perform SolidWorks CAD analysis to assess concentricity of rubber parts.
  • Conduct First Off in-process and final inspections.
  • Document non-conformances in JDE and track NCRs.
  • Report deviations to engineering and disposition accordingly.
  • Maintain inspection reports and related quality documentation.
  • Check tool calibration and keep work area clean and safe.
  • Perform incoming rubber testing with MDR-C Rheology equipment.
  • Ensure traceability numbers and stamping are correct on products.
  • Coordinate measuring equipment calibration process.
  • Follow NOV safety policies and support health and safety of team.

The Quality Inspector should have an extensive working knowledge of a production environment, specializing in the reading of blueprints and the use of standard measuring tools, The Quality Inspector must possess strong communication skills (oral and written) with an ability to effectively interact with integrated process teams, organizational skills, the ability to be forward thinking for planning purposes, and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Ideal candidate must be able to accurately interpret blueprints, charts, and dimensional tables, and should have a basic understanding of CAD software, such as SolidWorks or an equivalent platform. Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards (JDE), is required for documenting and tracking non-conformances. This role demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and via email, with cross-functional stakeholders including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.

This position is for Night Shift, 10pm - 6am

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables to inspect machined parts and on new and reline stator products (visual, dimensional, workmanship).
  • Verify dimensions of machined parts, reline stators and rotors using micrometers, Vernier Caliper, Gagemaker JSS, stator measuring tool (SMT) and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
  • Perform Solid Works Analysis (CAD Software) to determine concentricity of rubber and/or rubber thickness
  • Perform “First Off” inspection in process and final inspection.
  • Assist in verification, identification and reporting of non-conforming product or part and ensuring that NCR Documentation is correct/complete and closed in JDE system.
  • Report deviations / NCR’s from specifications and tolerances to Manufacturing Engineering and Product Line Engineering and acquire dispositions to proceed the product or part.
  • Complete and maintain inspection reports and other quality related documentations (i.e. COC’s, Dimensional Data Sheets)
  • Use measuring tools as per proper procedures and verify calibration of tools. Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Perform Incoming Rubber Testing using MDR-C Rheology Equipment (includes Equipment Set-up, Cleaning and Torque Calibration as required)
  • Check the quality of product, including verification of proper stamping of part and traceability numbers.
  • Coordinate measuring equipment calibration process.
  • Work in a healthy and safe manner, in accordance with National Oilwell Varco policies and procedures, reporting any unsafe practices or conditions while also ensuring the health and safety of direct reports
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is classified as safety sensitive, and employment would be conditional on satisfactory completion of a pre-employment testing.
