Job summary

Linamar Corporation in Guelph, Ontario is seeking a Quality Inspector to uphold our strict standards by approving incoming materials, monitoring in-process production, and inspecting finished parts to ensure compliance with drawings and customer requirements.

You will use gauges and a CMM, perform receiving, in-process, first off, and final inspections, and document results while adhering to IATF guidelines and safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge to use micrometers, verniers, height and bore gauges.
  • Ability to operate CMM and interpret inspection results.
  • Clear communication in team and individual settings.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings and GD&T symbols.
  • Ability to learn and apply SPC concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of parts using gauging equipment to ensure alignment with customer standards.
  • Receiving inspections: assess incoming material to ensure required standards.
  • In-process inspections: monitor parts during production for ongoing compliance.
  • First-off inspection: inspect and authorize production.
  • Product layouts: measure features to ensure drawings compliance.
  • Final release inspections: evaluate parts and authorize shipment.
  • Apply IATF standards for non-conforming material.
  • Document quality inspections.
  • Report deviations to relevant personnel.
  • Adhere to health, safety and environmental policies.

Job description

This role is responsible for upholding quality standards by approving incoming materials, monitoring in-process production, and inspecting finished products to ensure compliance with company requirements. Using various gauges and recording quality results and collaborate closely with internal departments to maintain and enhance quality throughout the production process.

Responsibility
  • Conduct inspections of parts using appropriate gauging or measuring equipment to ensure product aligns with customer standards through various process, including:
  • Receiving Inspections: Assess incoming material based on product specifications to ensure required standards.
  • In process inspections: Monitor and inspect parts during production process to ensure ongoing compliance with quality standards.
  • First off inspection: Inspect part specifications and authorize full production.
  • Product Audits: Conduct full layout of all part features by measuring all part features to ensure compliance with drawing specifications.
  • Final release inspections: Evaluate parts and authorize shipment of parts to the customer.
  • Apply IATF standards for handling non-conforming material, including identification and inspection procedures.
  • Use appropriate documentation related to quality inspections.
  • Communicate and report any product deviations found to relevant individuals.
  • Adhere to all Health and safety, environmental legislation, policies and procedures
Academic/Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Skills/Experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience in automotive manufacturing environment or equivalent education
  • Knowledge and ability to use measuring equipment, such as micrometers, verniers, height and bore gauges
  • Ability to operate CMM and interpret inspection results
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both individual and team settings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to learn new software applications
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprint drawings and GD&T symbols
  • Ability to learn and apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts
