Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related discipline.
• OACETT RCSI designation or PEO EIT designation preferred.
• ISO 9001 QMS Auditor certification (asset).
• Minimum 5-6 years of experience in construction, quality control, or site inspection.
• Valid Government of Canada security clearance or eligibility to obtain one, in accordance with project security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of civil, structural, architectural, and building systems to verify conformance with drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Monitor contractor work for compliance with contract specifications and applicable safety and environmental legislation.
• Identify, document, and report non‑conformances; assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Inspect materials, installations, workmanship, and temporary works (e.g., erosion control, silt fencing).
• Assist with project close‑out, ensuring inspection records, test results, certificates, and turnover documents are complete.

We are looking to add a Quality Inspector / Coordinator to work on one of our important building projects in North York, Ontario.

The Quality Inspector / Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that construction activities meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. This site based position focuses on daily inspections, quality documentation, compliance monitoring, and coordination with subcontractors, testing agencies, and the project team.

The role supports the project's Construction Quality Management Plan and contributes to continuous improvement, accurate reporting, and timely resolution of quality issues. It is ideal for a detail oriented professional with strong field experience and a commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

Quality Inspections & Compliance Monitoring

• Conduct daily inspections of civil, structural, architectural, and building systems to verify conformance with drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Monitor contractor work for compliance with contract specifications and applicable safety and environmental legislation.
• Identify, document, and report non‑conformances; assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Inspect materials, installations, workmanship, and temporary works (e.g., erosion control, silt fencing).
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and addressing findings.

Testing Coordination & Documentation

• Coordinate third‑party testing and inspections (e.g., concrete, soils, firestopping, coatings, HVAC balancing).
• Review test reports, identify issues, and **escalate** concerns to the Senior Coordinator or Quality Lead.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, photographs, daily diaries, and quality logs.
• Track material approvals and verify compliance with submittals and shop drawings.

Nonconformity & Corrective Action Management

• Document observations, deficiencies, and nonconformity.
• Work with site superintendents & subcontractors to implement corrective actions.
• Escalate major quality issues to the Project Quality Lead.

Quality Coordination & Support

• Assist in developing and maintaining Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and weekly ITP Look‑Ahead schedules.
• Coordinate meetings and inspections with consultants, subcontractors, and testing agencies.
• Perform field‑level checks of subcontractor Quality Plans, ITPs, and quality records for compliance with approved requirements.
• Support document control for all quality‑related documentation.
• Participate in critical inspections and quality walk‑downs. Track documentation, identify deficiencies, and elevate issues to senior quality leadership as required.
• Assist with project close‑out, ensuring inspection records, test results, certificates, and turnover documents are complete.

Construction Support & Field Operations

• Assist with site investigations when differing conditions arise and support constructability reviews.
• Monitor progress and document delays or issues impacting schedule.
• Witness field and factory tests and document results.
• Support coordination between contractors and the project team to minimize impacts to operations and stakeholders.
• Assist with testing, startup, and commissioning of new systems.
• Work safely and follow the organization’s Safety culture.
• Communicate clearly with contractors, consultants, and internal teams regarding quality requirements and upcoming inspections.
• Mentor project team staff when required.
• Support external communications systems by offering guidance and advice.

Requirements

Education & Certifications

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related discipline.

Experience

• Minimum 5-6 years of experience in construction, quality control, or site inspection.
• Experience with grading, asphalt, concrete, or transportation projects is an asset.
• Experience coordinating third‑party testing and inspections.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and civil drawings.
• Valid Government of Canada security clearance or eligibility to obtain one, in accordance with project security requirements.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is $60,000–$105,000. Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBC’s comprehensive total rewards offering, which may include performance-based incentives, extended health and wellness benefits, retirement savings programs, and career development opportunities.
