Job summary

JSI Telecom is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Co-op to support the QE team in Kanata, Ontario, blending on-site and hybrid work. You will test software applications, document test cases, and track defects while collaborating with developers and project managers to ensure quality throughout the SDLC.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicates well, and pursues hands-on QA experience. This co-op offers exposure to automation, CI/CD pipelines and a dynamic tech environment.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a recognized post-secondary program (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering).
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for ensuring quality in software products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Prior experience in manual software testing or quality assurance (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct manual testing of software applications to ensure functionality, performance, and usability meet the required standards.
  • Create, execute, and document test cases and test plans based on project specifications and requirements.
  • Identify, report, and track defects in the software using our defect tracking system.
  • Collaborate with developers, project managers, and other QA team members to ensure a smooth and efficient testing process.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide input on quality assurance processes and practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of test data and perform regression testing as needed.
  • Verify that fixes are correctly implemented by retesting issues and ensuring resolution.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for testing activities and results.
  • Automating, maintaining and executing tests in a timely manner.
  • Running and analyzing automated tests
  • Ability to code in languages like Python, C#
  • Experience with tools like Playwright, Selenium, Nunit, Postman
  • Familiar with CI/CD integration for automated pipelines

We are looking for Software Quality Assurance Co-op students to support our QE team in ensuring the highest standards of software quality. The position is focused exclusively on QE tasks. As a co-op, you will be responsible for testing software applications to identify defects and ensure the functionality meets the requirements and expectations.
