Engineering Specialist - Quality - Machining
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Quality) or related technical field. Candidates must provide proof of degree completion. If obtained outside Canada, an Education Credential Assessment showing Canadian equivalency is required.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
- 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing Quality Operating Systems (QOS) or similar structured quality programs
- Proven ability to use structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 6 Panel) for permanent corrective actions
- Experience with quality data management, analysis, and reporting (metrics like FTT, Scrap, Defects)
- Knowledge of core manufacturing quality tools (e.g., SPC, MSA/GR&R)
- Effective collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams
- Experience coordinating containment actions and managing quality documentation/traceability
Preferred Requirements:
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- Experience leading cross-functional quality improvement teams
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems (e.g., QLSCM, Q-Net, FIS, POSMON, QDAS)
- Experience coaching or training on quality principles and systems
- Experience in manufacturing environments such as machining

Responsibilities
- Lead production QOS initiatives
- Review production quality issues and liaise with departments
- Coordinate quality containment actions
- Implement corrective actions (e.g., 8D, 6-panel)
- Maintain quality action traceability records
- Manage key quality documentation
- Prepare quality reports
- Participate in audits
- Oversee the departmental MQOS scorecard
- Review and determine disposition of rejected parts
- Lead zero defects initiatives
- Coordinate Green/Black Belt projects
- Utilize quality and manufacturing systems
- Establish critical characteristics and data collection methods
- Manage error proofing and internal checks
- Apply engineering principles for process and product improvements
- Manage statistical process control
- Apply Measurement Systems Analysis
- Support the MTC process
- Participate in benchmarking
- Advise on corrective actions and risk management
- Verify CNC gauge reports daily
- Coach teams on QOS principles
