We are seeking aHighly motivated and experienced Quality Engineer responsible for investigating, analyzing, and resolving quality problems by conducting internal audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects. This role works closely with the manufacturing team in an ongoing effort to plan, organize, and ship all finished goods to our customers.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING- Work with the Manufacturing Department to ensure Customer quality measurables are regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain and update Customer-specific audit systems and schedules.
- Conduct audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor, communicate, and improve key Customer/Internal KPIs, including Customer Supplier Quality Standards and Requirements.
- Establish specific short- and long-term quality goals.
- Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action
- Champion internal part containments and required sort/certification activities.
- Resolve technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
- Develop long-term Customer relationships, including Customer Facility visits, and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
- Aid Manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new program part runs following a defined new product development process.
- Automotive manufacturing experience to support multiple product launches with responsibility to drive APQP and completing PPAP approvals with customers.
- Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness.
- Complete any other duties as assigned.
WHO YOU ARE
Education & Certifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing preferred) or related technical field.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) designation from ASQ preferred.
- Additional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT) are strong assets.
- Training in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC methodologies.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.
- Completion of internal auditor training for IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 is an asset.
Experience- 5+ years of hands-on quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive, metal fabrication, or aluminum extrusion.
- Proven track record with customer-specific requirements, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action implementation.
- Experience working in Tier 1 automotive supply chains is an asset.
- Experience working with customer quality portals and tools such as IMDS.
Technical Skills- Excellent knowledge of blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs, laser scanners).
- Ability to analyze CMM reports, and interpret dimensional and process data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts).
- Experience with QMS software and digital quality documentation tools.
