Job summary

GIP Construction Engineering, based in Caledon, Ontario, is seeking a Quality Coordinator to join a high-performing project team focused on inspection and testing of construction materials for ISO and QMS requirements. Reporting to the Quality/Project Manager, you will coordinate field activities and support audits on major projects.

• Post-secondary education in a 2- or 3-year college program such as Civil / Construction Engineering Technology or University degree is preferred.
• 3–5 years minimum experience as project quality control/quality assurance in a construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and must be able to effectively communicate with managers, engineers, supervisors and other team members.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Prior QMS/ISO experience is an asset.

SUMMARY

Come help build the future, where our work makes the world work! Join GIP Construction Engineering (“GCE”) group as a Quality Coordinator based out of Caledon, Ontario. You will be part of a high-performing project team that is dedicated to delivering results with a complex undertaking through collaboration and a best-for-project vision. Reporting to the Quality/Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in servicing major projects related to inspection and testing of construction materials with a focus on data for ISO and QMS requirements.

PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate field related activities and issues, including nonconformities, preventative actions and improvement requests. Coordinate and participate on project quality audits and/or surveillance at the sites checking the quality processes, procedures, and paperwork. Assist with completing field inspection reports, pour summaries and laboratory test results as per policies and/or contract requirements. Support the process of collection, and classification of all Quality Management System records. Provide recommendations to improve processes and procedures Facilitate internal audits including corrective actions to provide independent feedback to further support project quality improvement. Establish and facilitate validation requirements for design readiness reviews prior to critical project milestones including design package review submissions. Prepare and implement audits program to assure compliance to the Integrated Quality Management Program and Project procedures. Follow all company and regulatory safety policies and procedures. Complete reports and checklists as per company policies and/or contract requirements and advise supervisors of any non-conformances and deviations. Perform other duties as instructed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Post-secondary education in a 2- or 3-year college program such as Civil / Construction Engineering Technology or University degree program is preferred.


• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as project quality control/quality assurance in a construction environment.


• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and regulations.


• Strong problem-solving skills and must be able to effectively communicate with managers, engineers, supervisors and other team members.


• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.


• Problem solving abilities, contribution to new quality initiatives, striving for continuous improvements and accurate record keeping will be key to your success in this role.


• Prior QMS/ISO experience is an asset.

WHAT WE OFFER

Expected Hourly Rate: $24.00 – $32 per hour. The actual hourly rate will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations. Comprehensive group benefits program. Career growth and advancement opportunities.
